Investigations Training
Empowering your team to navigate the way forward.
Woven provides comprehensive training to allow your internal team to conduct thorough, fair and legally sound workplace investigations. Our sessions are designed for HR team members, managers, inhouse counsel and ER specialists. Our methods are developed and refined through years of real-world investigation experience.
Woven will train your team to:
Plan and structure investigations strategically
Conduct effective interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnesses
Gather and analyse oral and documentary evidence
Assess participant credibility
Write clear, objective investigation reports
Navigate complex roadblocks, hostile or reluctant participants, dealing with legal representatives and health/wellbeing issues.
Our interactive workshops combine theory with hands-on practice, including role-play scenarios and case studies drawn from actual investigations. We tailor our training sessions to your organisation, ensuring your team develop the appropriate skills to conduct robust internal investigations.
● Investigations Training Process
How do we conduct and deliver our investigation training?
-
We begin by meeting with you to understand your current investigation practices, challenges, and goals. We discuss specific cases and/or typical complaints that require internal investigation. This conversation helps us understand the current skillset of your team and any unique considerations that should inform the training.
-
Following the initial meeting, we analyse your current practices, and identify any gaps in knowledge, policies or procedures. Based on this, we develop clear learning objectives and prepare a detailed training proposal tailored to meet your organisation's needs. We provide this to you in draft for your review.
-
We create a customised workshop that addresses the organisation’s needs and we pitch the training at the right level for your team. We develop realistic case studies drawn from relevant scenarios, design practical exercises, and craft role-play situations that mirror the types of investigations your team handles. We also review and refine investigation templates to ensure they align with best practices while meeting your specific requirements. All materials are provided prior to the training.
-
We suggest splitting the training over two separate sessions. The first session generally covers investigation fundamentals, including the legal framework, procedural fairness, planning investigations, gathering evidence, and preparing for interviews. Participants engage in practical exercises to build confidence and competence.
The break between sessions allows participants to reflect on the material and consider questions for the following session.
The second session builds on this foundation, focusing on advanced interviewing techniques, credibility analysis, report writing tips and tricks, and handling complex issues or roadblocks. We also allow time for questions throughout our workshops and encourage participants to share their own experiences or challenges.
-
For many clients, we establish an ongoing partnership. While we often continue to handle complex investigations involving senior employees, we can also support internal investigations as co-investigator. This assists team members with learning and applying investigation principles and ensures investigations are both robust and cost-efficient. This ensures your team’s investigation capabilities continue to evolve and strengthen over time.
When complaints are made or problems arise, we can help you figure out what’s really going on.
● Our Expertise

Our independent workplace reviews can help you identify and address any issues within a team or workplace early on. When something doesn’t seem right – where there is increased turnover, low employee survey results, high sick leave or informal concerns being raised - we take a deep dive. Our review process identifies what is working well, what is not and what can be done better. We build a rapport with your people to ensure they feel comfortable to share issues that are impacting them at work. We recommend practical steps to address any issues identified . These recommendations enable you to make real improvements to ensure your people are working positively and collaboratively within a safe and supportive working environment.
